Umbrello Malaysia · Product Guide · 5 min read
The Shadowspec Oasis™ is a commercial market umbrella built for hospitality. It is an excellent choice for the right job and a poor one for the wrong job.
This guide helps you decide which job you have. It covers sizes, lift systems, mounting options and the situations where another model suits you better.
Umbrello Malaysia is an authorised Shadowspec distributor. We would rather you specify the right umbrella once than replace the wrong one later.
Shadowspec calls the Oasis™ a market umbrella. In Malaysia you will also hear "cafe umbrella" or "center pole" umbrella. All three describe the same format: one mast, one canopy.
What the Oasis™ is designed to do
The Oasis™ is a center pole umbrella. One mast stands at the middle of the canopy, which keeps the structure simple and the footprint compact.
Shadowspec designed it for venues where staff open and close umbrellas every day. It combines stainless steel, aluminium and resin, with marine-grade materials chosen to last in outdoor service.
The canopy is solution-dyed, so colour runs through the fibre rather than sitting on the surface. That helps it resist fading under strong tropical sun. Our canopy fabric guide explains why this matters.
Four sizes and two lift systems
The Oasis™ comes in four canopy sizes. Choose by table size, spacing and the shade you need. Our size guide helps you match canopy to table.
| Canopy | Lift system | Open rib-end height |
| 2.0m (7ft) square | SHADOWPUSH™ and SHADOWPOP™ | 2.02m (6ft 7in) |
| 2.7m (9ft) octagonal | SHADOWPUSH™ and SHADOWPOP™ | 2.03m (6ft 8in) |
| 3.0m (10ft) square | SHADOWPUSH™, SHADOWCLEAT™, SHADOWBLOCK™ | 2.21m (7ft 3in) |
| 4.0m (13ft) octagonal | SHADOWPUSH™, SHADOWCLEAT™, SHADOWBLOCK™ | 2.18m (7ft 2in) |
SHADOWPUSH™ is standard on every size and removes the need for pins.
On the 2.0m and 2.7m, SHADOWPOP™ gives a tension-assisted lift with no ropes to tangle. On the 3.0m and 4.0m, SHADOWCLEAT™ and SHADOWBLOCK™ use a dual cleat and a double pulley.
For staff, smaller sizes are quick to raise. Larger sizes use a cord, and the cleat keeps it secure once the canopy is open. Open rib-end height matters too. Check clearance over walkways and service routes before you fix positions.
When the Oasis is the right specification
Choose the Oasis when most of the following are true.
- Tables are fixed, so one umbrella covers one table.
- Staff will open and close the umbrellas daily.
- You want a uniform look across many units.
- The area is a terrace, courtyard or pool deck.
- A center mast will not block service paths.
Cafe and restaurant terraces. Square canopies of 2.0m or 3.0m fit neatly into a grid of tables. Octagonal canopies of 2.7m or 4.0m give a rounder shade pattern over a single table or small group. Our guide to shading restaurants and cafes covers layout and guest comfort.
Hotel and resort pool decks. The Oasis sits in our poolside range. A larger canopy can shade a lounger cluster or a small seating group. Our pool deck procurement guide covers the wider project.
Venues with many identical units. Oyster, Alpine Stone, Charcoal Tweed and Black are our standard colours. Standard colours are made to stock, so lead times are shorter. Stripes and other special-order shades take longer and carry a surcharge.
Straightforward buying. You can add an Oasis™ to your cart, or request a quote for a larger fit-out.
Right size, right base, right colour: three decisions that decide how an Oasis™ performs.
Mounting: choose the base with the umbrella
The Oasis™ needs a base that suits its size and your site. Shadowspec offers four mounting types.
- Concrete base: 27kg (60 lb), rubber feet, tilt wheels.
- Flat plate: 35kg (77 lb) for 2.0m and 2.7m.
- Flat plate: 45kg (99 lb) for 3.0m and 4.0m.
- Spigot: tough steel, powder coated black.
A larger canopy in an open location needs a secure base. Confirm your choice with us before ordering, especially for exposed terraces. Our bases and anchoring guide explains the options, and our guide for installers helps your contractor.
When another model is the better choice
No umbrella suits every site. Consider an alternative in these situations.
- A center mast would block service paths: choose a cantilever.
- You need 4.0m or 5.0m square canopies: consider SU10.
- The balcony is narrow: consider a wall-mounted Retreat™.
- The site is very exposed: check wind ratings first.
Serenity™ and Unity™ keep the ground clear under the canopy. Our center pole or cantilever guide explains the trade-offs for cafes and terraces.
The SU10 is a larger commercial center pole with an aluminium frame and a telescopic mast. The table compares it with the Oasis™.
| At a glance | Oasis™ | SU10 |
| Canopy sizes | 2.0m to 4.0m | 4.0m and 5.0m square |
| Frame | Stainless steel, Aluminium, resin | Aluminium frame, telescopic mast |
| Standard colours | Oyster, Alpine Stone, Charcoal Tweed, Black | Oyster White, Charcoal Tweed, Black |

If the site is exposed, read our wind ratings guide before you choose. Rated wind-load differs by model and size, so ask us to confirm it for your layout.
A simple routine for your team
The Oasis™ is built for daily service, but a short routine protects it. Brief your staff once, and the habit usually sticks.
- Close every umbrella at the end of service.
- Close all units when wind or storms approach.
- Raise and lower using the mechanism, never by force.
- Report stiff or damaged parts early.
If a canopy is ever damaged, you can replace the canopy without replacing the whole umbrella. Our accessories guide covers replacement canopies and covers.
Warranty and care
Warranty terms for the Oasis differ for residential and commercial use. Our warranty guide explains what is covered, and the Warranty Information page lists the current schedule.
Daily-use umbrellas reward a simple routine: close in storms, rinse the canopy and check
fittings. Our monsoon maintenance guide has the details.
